Alfonso Rodés Vilà
Deputy CEO of Havas
CEO, Havas Media
Previous to his move into Havas, Alfonso accrued over 15 years experience in the banking sector. In 1981 he spent 8 years as The Deputy Director at Banco de Progreso, moving in 1989 to become Vice President of Banco Urquijo until his departure in 1996.
Alfonso’s progress within the Havas Media team started over 15 years ago in 1996 with his appointment as Chief Corporate Development Officer of MPG, the founding media brand within Havas Media. At that stage MPG was operational in Spain, Portugal and Mexico.
In 2001, with the group operating in over 13 markets, he also became Chief Executive Officer of MPG for Spain and Southern Europe, as well as Chairman of Havas Sports and Entertainment, the group’s sports, sponsorship and entertainment network. During Alfonso’s appointment as Chief Executive Officer of MPG Spain, the Spanish office doubled in size in both revenue and client portfolio.
Alfonso became CEO of Havas Media, the global media network of Havas, in 2006. With over 5,600 employees, Havas Media now operates in 118 countries. It is recognised as the fastest growing media group worldwide and is ranked as market leader for new business in 10 countries. Havas Sports and Entertainment is now the world’s largest sports communications network. Havas Media works with over 1,000 international clients including BBC, Credit Suisse, Danone, France Telecom, Exxon Mobil, PSA, Air France KLM, Hyundai-Kia, Reckitt Benckiser and Sears.
In March 2011 Alfonso was appointed Deputy CEO, Havas.
Alfonso is board member of a variety of different companies, foundations and NGO’s. He has a passion for gastronomy, skiing, mountain biking and mountain walking and is a huge fan of FC Barcelona. When he is not travelling, he lives in Barcelona with his wife and three children.
